Be a rockstar blogger, almost literally

band on stage2 Be a rockstar blogger, almost literally

How is it that some bloggers with incredible, breakthrough knowledge with impressive, creative writing prowess can’t get traffic let alone make any money? Meanwhile, other bloggers with much less useful information with only so-so writing can gain tar-like stickiness and earn a decent blogging income?

If you ask every successful band what they did when they first started, many of them will tell you that they did whatever they could to make as much noise as possible!

Eventually, they build a following and really make it big by attracting the right people, whether they be groupies, casual followers, agents, managers, or record companies.

For the most part, that means they never missed an opportunity to:

  • Play their best in front of an audience, no matter how small
  • Distribute information (via flyers, emails, etc) to promote their gigs
  • Meet as many people as possible
  • Release new material regularly

So what does that mean to you? I’m sure you’ve figured out that the parallels are obvious. As a blogger, here’s how you should “make noise”:

  • Produce your best content, no matter what your traffic is
  • Use social bookmarks, write guest posts, and visit other blogs (among other things) to promote your articles
  • Connect with as many bloggers and customers as possible
  • Write new content consistently

The early days may be rough but the bands that are persistent about those activities are usually the ones who become headliners one day. That’s why so many bands never make it out of a garage.

The same pretty much goes for blogging.

Do you have what it takes to be a rockstar blogger?
